The Worlds 50 Best Awards

The Worlds 50 Best Restaurant Awards, commonly referred to as the ‘Food Oscars’, is coming to Melbourne this April!

Tourism Australia has asked Infinity Squared to head down to the event and capture the excitement and emotion of the ceremony. This will be the second time since its inception that the event will be hosted outside of London. Because of this, the event being held in Australia is a pretty big deal and has attracted a number of big names, both nationally and internationally. Some of these attendees include Heston Blumenthal of Dinner by Heston, London, Daniel Humm and Will Guidara of Eleven Madison Park, New York and, our own Peter Gilmore of Quay and Bennelong, Sydney.

The event was envisaged by the editor and staff of a British magazine called ‘Restaurant’ and, at first, included a poll of a handful of restaurants and critics. Over the years, the event has grown substantially with an ever-expanding international list decided on by a number of esteemed chefs, restaurateurs and restaurant critics.

This year, given the location, there will be a focus on Australian produce and ingredients, those which make our cuisine so unique. Though, as their events in the past have done, The Worlds 50 Best Restaurant Awards will again acknowledge the creativity of chefs and their restaurants in this years ceremony.
